quarterfinal sectional bid last season. Transitioning from the powerful
lineup of 2005, this years team will utilize speed and "small ball"

pitching and a very aggressive base running approach the 2006 Varsity

Baseball
The sleepy hollow junior varsity baseball team is off to a good
start. The team is full of dedicated, hardworking ball players. After
completing a week of six a.m. practices, the devotion and passion for
the game is no longer in question. The return of players as Darwin
Cabreja, Eric Treutler, Matt Vallo and Jesse Humm should add to the
excitement and success of the team. Some exciting new comers include:
Jonathan Rodriguez and Christian Zolbe. Together, along with a plethora
of other talented ball players, should make for an exciting season, and
eventually increase the potency of the varsity.
Modified Baseball
The Sleepy Hollow Modified Baseball Program is for 7th
and 8th grade students. This Interscholastic Program allows
the more talented players the opportunity to practice with and perform
against other higher skilled athletes. The objective of this program is
to focus on rules, skills player development, team play and healthy
competition. It is extremely important that athletes at this level have
a positive, meaningful, and productive experience.
The team is coached by
Richard Perugini. Previously, Mr. Perugini coached varsity baseball in
the Tarrytowns and has guided the modified program for the last eight
seasons.
The squad’s practice
facility is Washington Irving School. Indoor practices take place in the
gymnasium, while outside practices will be held on the lower baseball
field. Home games will be played on the W.I. lower baseball field and
away contests will be played at sites scheduled by the opponent.
Athletes will be transported to and from away games. Games generally
begin around 4:15, with no inning started after two hours.
