Boys' Soccer On Friday, October 27th, the Boys' Modified Soccer team finished its season in undefeated fashion by registering a 4-2 victory over Blind Brook at SUNY Purchase. Alex Dopico and Juan Loja each scored a pair of goals while Matt Casarin and Mark Sanchez each notched an assist. Strong play by defender Jon Urgiles and winger John Michael Bogusz helped power the squad. The team finished the season with 7 victories, one draw, and zero losses. (posted 11/1/06) On Thursday October 26th, the Boys’ JV Soccer team played home against Saunders. In their final game of the year, the Horsemen did not disappoint anyone, scoring three times in the first half and twice more in the second half. Daniel Kaplan, Charles Kress, Luis Cobos, and Carlos Pena scored goals. The Horsemen finished the season 8-5-1. Good luck to the Varsity team in their upcoming sectional games. (posted 10/27/06) The Boys' Modified Soccer team continued its undefeated season on Thursday, October 26th by rallying from a 2-1 half time deficit to defeat Irvington 6-3. Erik Sanchez led all goal scorers with a pair of goals. Also finding the back of the net were Jon mares, Tim Rachlin, Brandon Patino, and Christian Zhinin. Rachlin also added a pair of assists. Brandon. Patino, Fausto Pugo, and Lucas Lopez also added assists in the contest. Excellent midfield play from Matt Casain is noted. The team enters its final game at Blind Brook on Friday, October 27th with a record of 6 wins and 1 draw. (posted 10/27/06) On Tuesday October 24th the Boys’ JV soccer team played home against Albertus Magnus. Sleepy Hollow was able to bounce back from their 5-1 loss to Irvington the day before. Although the Horsemen were unable to score in the first half, they controlled much of the play. Luis Cobos and Luis Jaramillo both scored second half goals for Sleepy Hollow to help propel them to a 2-0 win. Daniel Kaplan had another outstanding game in goal. (posted 10/25/06) The Boys' Modified Soccer team defeated Croton 7-0 on Tuesday, October 24th. The team earned its first shutout of the season with strong goalkeeping from Robert Dondiego and Lucas Lopez. While the first goal of the game was an "own goal" off of a Croton defender, Dennis Maloy, John Micahel Bogusz, Juan Loja (two goals), Brandon Patino, and Tim Rachlin all scored goals. John Garro and Christian Zhinin each added two assists. Strong midfield play from Hernan Pena and Matt Hammer helped make the difference. The team is still undefeated with a record of 5 wins and 1 draw. (posted 10/25/06) On Monday, October 23rd the Boys’ JV Soccer team played at Irvington. In a tough game, Sleepy Hollow fell 5-1. The Horsemen’s lone goal was scored by Luis Cobos and assisted by Luis Jaramillo in the second half. Sleepy Hollow will look to bounce back against Albertus Magnus on Tuesday October 24th at 4:30 PM at home. (posted 10/24/06) On Wednesday, October 18th, the Varsity Boys’ Soccer team faced a tough Hastings team in a league match. Hastings had the first opportunity to score, and did so. Sleepy came down 10 minutes later to tie the score at one with a picture perfect goal by Chris Coronel on a beautiful pass from Manuel Chimbo. At the end of regulation, the score remained tied at 1. In Overtime, the Horseman picked up their game and kept attacking until Carlos Gomez put in the winning goal for the Horseman on a pass from Chris Coronel. Sleepy Hollow's next game is Friday, October 20th vs. Irvington in our last home game of the regular season.(posted 10/20/06) On Monday, October 16th the Sleepy Hollow Boys’ Modified Soccer team came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with a tough Blind Brook squad at SUNY Purchase. Christian Zhinin netted the lone Sleepy Hollow goal off of a direct kick ,just inches outside the 18-yard line. Goalkeeper Robert Dondiego made two clutch saves in the 3rd quarter to preserve the tie. The team remains undefeated with a record of 4 wins and 1 draw. Our next game is on Wednesday, October 18th at Dobbs Ferry. (posted 10/18/06) On Tuesday, October 10th the Sleepy Hollow Modified Boys’ Soccer team won a tough road game against Hastings by the score of 3 – 2. John Michael Bogusz led the way with two goals and Brandon Patino added a goal to power the Sleepy Hollow offense. Jon Mares and Tom Carraro each added an assist. John Garro played hard at midfield. The team remains undefeated with a record of four wins against no losses! (posted 10/18/06) On Monday, October 16th, the Sleepy Hollow Varsity Boys’ Soccer team traveled across the river to face a league opponent, Pearl River. The game ended in a tie with Chris Coronel scoring for the Horseman being assisted by Nick Carraro. Sleepy's next match is on Wednesday, October 18th at Hastings. The Horseman are now 6-3-3 (posted 10/18/06) On Monday October 16th, the Sleepy Hollow Boys’ JV Soccer team played at home against Pearl River. In another tough league match, Sleepy Hollow played well but failed to score. Jonathon Segarra and Mark Aruajo both provided some excitement in the second half after coming close to tying the game several times. The next game is Friday, October 20th at Irvington at 4:30 PM. (posted 10/18/06) On Friday, October 13th, the Boys’ Varsity Soccer team played Nanuet at home. Michael Praino and Carlos Gomez each had a goal to put the horseman past Nanuet, 2-1. Their next game is on Monday, October 16th at Pearl River. (posted 10/18/06) On Thursday, October 12th, the Varsity Boys’ Soccer team beat Albertus Magnus won by a score of 2-1. Sleepy had a great effort by keeping the game close until the final minute. Sleepy's goal came off a pass from Michael Praino to Carlos Gomez. Sleepy Hollow is now 5-3-2 with an upcoming game on Friday, October 13th vs. Nanuet at home at 4:30pm. (posted 10/13/06) On Friday October 6th the Sleepy Hollow Boys JV Soccer team played home against Irvington in another tough league game. Mark Araujo, Jonathon Segarra, and Alex Urgiles all scored in the first half, giving Sleepy Hollow a 3-0 halftime lead. Irvington scored twice in the second half, but Sleepy Hollow held on for a 3-2 win. Next on the schedule for the Sleepy Hollow Boys JV Soccer team is at Saunders on Tuesday, October 10 at 4:30 PM. (posted 10/10/06) On Friday, October 6th, the Sleepy Hollow Modified Boys’ Soccer team won its third straight game to start the season by defeating a tough Blind Brook squad 7 – 2. Strong goalkeeping by Robert Dondiego and Anthony Martinato, coupled by outstanding defensive efforts by Armon Margano and Jonathan Urgiles, gave the offense plenty of opportunities to find the back of the net. Juan Loja scored a pair of goals, while Edgar Patino, Christian Zhinin, Carlos Uyaguari, and Alex Dopico each notched one. Jon Mares converted a penalty kick for a goal as well. The team will look to improve to 4-0 and win its first game on the road at Hastings on Tuesday, October 10th. Chris Coronel, giving himself a perfect birthday present, had a hat-trick, scoring three times in the second half. Sleepy Hollow won 3-2 and was able to bounce back from a tough week last week. Next on the schedule is at Irvington, Friday October 6th at 4:30 PM. (posted 10/5/06) On Tuesday, October 3rd Sleepy Hollow Boys JV Soccer played home against Pelham. Unfortunately, Sleepy Hollow fell down 3-0 quickly and could not recover. Pelham was a big, strong, tough opponent that played well in the first half. Sleepy Hollow played an excellent second half that included some scoring opportunities, which could not be capitalized on. We hope to bounce back with a win against Irvington Friday, October 6th at home. (posted 10/4/06) On Thursday, September 28th Sleepy Hollow Boys JV Soccer played at Pearl River. In a well-played, hard fought match, Sleepy Hollow fell 1-0. Daniel Kaplan kept the game close with another outstanding game in goal. Sleepy Hollow's next game is at home at WI on Tuesday, October 3rd at 4:30 PM. (posted 10/3/06) On Thursday, September 28th, the Sleepy Hollow Modified Boys’ Soccer team improved to two wins against no losses by defeating Pierre Van Cortlandt (Croton) 7 – 2. Alex Dopico scored the first of his two goals in the opening minute of play to put the Horsemen in the lead. Sleepy Hollow never lost the lead, powered by goals from Erik Sanchez, John Michael Bogusz, John Araujo, Brandon Patino, and Edgar Patino. Edgar Patino, Alex Dopico, Erik Sanchez, and John Garro registered assists. Michael Diaz was outstanding on defense, especially while taking goal kicks. The team will look to make it three wins in a row when they travel to Irvington on Wednesday, October 4th. (posted 10/3/06) On September 26th the Sleepy Hollow Boys’ JV Soccer team played Nanuet at home, in their first league game. They were off to another fast start against Nanuet, scoring four times before halftime. Luis Cobos, Alex Urgiles, and Mark Araujo scored goals. Charles Kress added a second half goal and Sleepy Hollow prevailed 5-2. Mark Araujo, Luis Cobos, Daniel Kaplan, and Claudio Pulla each had an assist. Daniel Kaplan played outstanding in goal to help Sleepy Hollow to their fourth overall and first league win. Our next game is Thursday, September 28th at Pearl River. (posted 9/28/06) Varsity Boys’ Soccer played at Nanuet on Tuesday, September 26th. The horseman received their first loss of the season to a good Nanuet team, 2 - 1. Michael Praino scored the lone goal on a break away after a great pass from Javier Murzia. The horseman's next game is on Thursday September 28th vs. Pearl River at Washington Irving. (posted 9/27/06) On Monday, September 25th the Sleepy Hollow Modified Boys’ Soccer squad won its opening game 6-3 against Dobbs Ferry at the Washington Irving Upper Field. Tim Rachlin opened the scoring for the Horsemen in the first few seconds of play, banging home the first of his two goals. John Michael Bogusz, Christian Zhinin, Ryan Becker, and Juan Lopez also scored goals for the home team. Zhinin also added an assist, as did Tom Carraro and Alex Dopico. Ignacio Mejias was outstanding on defense. The Horsemen, who never trailed in the game, will lace them up against the Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School on Thursday, September 28th at the Washington Irving Upper Field. (posted 9/27/06) Boys' Varsity Soccer played Monday, September 25th against Pelham High School at Pelham and came away with a tie. Carlos Gomes had a hat trick for the horseman while being assisted by Carlos Lojano on 2 of the 3 goals and Chris Coronel on the 3rd. The Horseman face Nanuet on Tuesday 9/26, away. Their next home game is on Thursday, September 28th vs. Pearl River. (posted 9/27/06) On Wednesday, September 20th the Sleepy Hollow Boys’ JV Soccer team played home against Eastchester. The boys played the best game they played all year; playing together as a team and each player playing hard. Sleepy Hollow lost 3-2, but looks forward to playing Nanuet at home Tuesday, September 26th at 4:30pm. (posted 9/25/06) On Monday, September 18th, the Varsity Boys’ Soccer team played Pleasantville at home. We dominated the 1st half of the game, going into halftime winning 3-0. In the 2nd half, Pleasantville made a run but was stopped by our defense that had a phenomenal game. We scored 5 goals with 4 different players. The team is doing great and they are playing tough. Michael Leeper was great in goal with 7 saves. The final score was 5 - 2, Sleepy Hollow. Our next game is on Wednesday, September 20th at Eastchester. (posted 9/20/06) On Monday, September 18th, Sleepy Hollow JV Boys’ Soccer team played at Pleasantville. After quickly falling down 2-0 to Pleasantville, Sleepy Hollow was able to retake the lead 3-2 at halftime with the help of goals by Mark Araujo and Jonathon Segarra. Three quick second half goals by Mark Araujo and Jonathon Segarra helped propel Sleepy Hollow to a 6-5 win. Luis Cobos helped Sleepy Hollow score with 3 assists.Joseph Scarpati and Mark Araujo also had one assist each. Our next game is on Wednesday, September 20th at home vs. Eastchester. (posted 9/19/06) The Sleepy Hollow Varsity Boys’ Soccer team tied Briarcliff on Tuesday, September 12th 0 - 0 after 80 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime. Everyone played hard and well considering our young talent. The defense had a great game including Michael Leeper our keeper. The entire team played well to preserve this shutout and we look forward to seeing more people support us at our home games. Our next game is on Thursday, September 14th at Pelham.
