Varsity Boys Tennis
This year’s Varsity Tennis team looks to dominate the league with more
talent and numbers than in perhaps a decade. Having lost only one
starting senior last year, and with more lower-classmen looking to upset
the ranks, the team will certainly be a formidable presence.
Head coach Brian Tompkins has probably
never seen so much depth in the lineup. Fifth-year athletes Dan Capo,
junior and Brian Fisher, senior will start at second and third singles,
respectively. These spots are in dispute, however, as rookie Edwin
Nieves, senior and fifth-year lefty Brad Becker-Parton, junior hope to
challenge and claim singles positions.
Doubles spots are undecided as of yet.
Old and new forces in the lineup include:
Senior: Anthony Scarpati
Juniors: Andrew Kaplan, Josh Hammer,
David Wu and Mike Praino
Sophomores: Ben Schmuckler and Cody Hume,
Freshmen: Ryan Tompkins, Jake Rosen,
Ronnie Bucci and Nick Carraro
and seventh-grader Ben Hoffling.
Talent is young and widespread, so the
Sleepy Hollow tennis team has great potential for future success. For
now, we all look to win leagues this season.
