Minimalism in the ClassroomCarroll's Minimalist Theory like constructivism and experiential learning encourages learners to challenge themselves and to use prior knowledge in order to learn. Students should be focused on what they want to learn rather than being weighted down with instructional materials. In a minimalist teachers classroom, there is room for mistakes. Directions are given with room for interpretation. A method or strategy is not labeled as wrong if it is not the mainstream way to approach a task.Practicing the beliefs outlined by the minimalist theory, teachers are able to let their students minds grow and learn without right and wrong. This takes away the risk of failure ultimately raising the self-esteem of the learner. The learners are encouraged to learn from their mistakes and to be able to recognize that a mistake has been made. For more minimalism information please visit the following websites.Minimalism |
