Early Childhood Center Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten Philosophy

English:

The Tarrytowns Prekindergarten and Kindergarten are developmental, language-based programs, built on the understanding that each child develops at his or her own rate.  The programs strive to develop the whole child socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively.

Opportunities to learn are presented with a multi-sensory, interdisciplinary approach.  Instruction is tailored to meet the varied skill levels of each student, capitalizing on a child's prior knowledge by providing hands-on experiences in the areas of language, math science, technology, social studies, art, music and movement.  Structured, organized, teacher-directed activities are balanced with opportunities for student choice which encourages decision making and problem solving. 

Respect for self and others is taught by example and through instruction.  We respect, value and build on the individual and unique experiences that each child brings to the school.

Our goal is to create a nurturing, success-oriented environment in which students can develop a positive self-image and acquire the foundations for learning. John Paulding School students will be excited about learning and motivated to face the challenges of future schooling.

Los programas de Prekindergarten y Kindergarten de los Tarrytowns son desarrollados y basados en el lenguaje y el desarrollo infantil de cada niño individualmente.  La meta de cada programa es de desarrollar la capacidad social, emocional, física e intelectual de cada niño.

Oportunidades de aprender son presentadas con un método multi-sensorio e interdisciplinario.  La enseñanza es adaptada a la variedad de técnicas y  niveles de cada estudiante, sacando provecho del conocimiento anterior y suministrando experiencias manuales en las áreas del lenguaje, matemáticas, ciencias, tecnología, estudios sociales, arte, música y movimiento.  Los profesores reconocen la necesidad de ganar un equilibrio entre la enseñanza dirigida por los maestros y el aprendizaje activo iniciado por los niños que los anima hacer decisiones y resolver problemas.

Se enseña el respeto por las diferencias individuales con el ejemplo y  enseñanza que damos.  Respetamos, valoramos y  desarrollamos las experiencias únicas e individuales que trae cada niño consigo a la escuela.

Nuestra meta es la de crear un ambiente afectuoso, orientado hacia el éxito, en lo cual los estudiantes podrán desarrollar un auto imagen positiva y adquirir las bases del aprendizaje.  Se espera que los estudiantes de la Escuela John Paulding estén entusiasmados por aprender y que sean motivados para seguir enfrentando los desafíos de su futuro escolar.
