Welcome to Washington Irving School

We welcome you to the 2012-13 school year! At Washington Irving, we strive to create and maintain a safe, nurturing, caring, and respectful learning community where children can grow and are motivated to learn, families are valued as partners in education, and teachers are inspired to develop their thinking.  

We celebrate diversity and understand the power of learning from each other. Each member of the Washington Irving family (parents, teachers, staff, and students) brings with them an individual uniqueness that shapes who we are as a school community.  Along with appreciating the uniqueness of each individual, we are also deeply committed to developing a strong sense of collective purpose and responsibility across the entire Washington Irving school community.

Our goal is to provide a rigorous and challenging education so that all students are actively engaged in their own learning.  Through the Washington Irving years, we want to nurture our students to become independent thinkers, life-long learners, and socially-conscious citizens who are academically ready for the continuing demands of middle school and beyond.  We are excited to be a part of the WI family and we look forward to working with you to provide an outstanding education to all students at WI!!

Directions to Washington Irving School:
103 South Broadway, Tarrytown

I-87 South / I-287 East
Go over Tappan Zee Bridge and take first exit after the toll booth, Exit #9.  At the end of the ramp take a right at the light onto Route 9.   Washington Irving School is less than 1 mile (4 traffic lights) on the left side.  Parking is permitted across from the school on Broadway during most hours or turn left into the school parking lot.

I-87 North
Take exit 9 toward Route 9 Tarrytown (last exit before bridge)  At the end of the ramp turn left onto NY-119/White Plains Road.  Follow to end (.2 miles) and take a right at the light onto Route 9.  Washington Irving School is less than 1 mile (4 traffic lights) on the left side.  Parking is permitted across from the school on Broadway during most hours or turn left into the school parking lot.

Coming from North - Take Saw Mill Parkway to Exit 23 – Eastview.  After exiting, make a left at the traffic light (Neperan Road).  Follow Neperan Road through three stop signs around the Tarrytown Reservoir, past Marymount College on left and Fordham Graduate Center on right.  Follow signs for Route 9 (Broadway).  Make a left onto Broadway, and follow to Washington Irving on the right of Franklin Street and Broadway.
