The mission of the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns is to empower students to make informed choices and assume responsibility for their own actions as they become self-directed, lifelong learners who are committed and able contributors to a sustainable local and global society. In partnership with our diverse community, we promote continuous growth through active engagement in a personalized learning environment characterized by high expectations and academic rigor in a climate of collaboration and mutual respect.

About Our Schools
The Public Schools of the Tarrytowns follows the Princeton Plan, with all students at each grade level attending the same school. This unique model promotes a consistent educational experience while helping students build strong connections with their classmates and teachers.

About Our District
The Public Schools of the Tarrytowns serves approximately 2,800 students from the villages of Tarrytown and the historic community of Sleepy Hollow, located along the scenic Hudson River in southern Westchester County, just 25 miles north of New York City.
Our diverse school community is one of our greatest strengths. We are committed to providing every student with a welcoming, inclusive learning environment where they feel valued, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.
Students benefit from a rigorous, well-rounded curriculum aligned with New York State Learning Standards that prepares them for success in college, careers, and beyond. Along with strong academic achievement, students excel in the arts, athletics, and service to others—earning recognition each year at the local, regional, state, and national levels.
Our schools are strengthened by an engaged and supportive community. Families, volunteers, and community organizations partner with us to enrich learning opportunities and support student success. The Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns, Horsemen PTA, Sleepy Hollow Performing Arts Boosters, Kids Club, Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, JCC, and many other community partners play an important role in helping our students thrive.
