  • Message from the Superintendent

Dear TUFSD Families and Staff, I hope this email finds you and your family well! As September is quickly approaching, I know that you are anxious to learn more about the coming school year. The parent informational forums, meetings with staff, dialogue with administrators, and feedback from the Board of Education have provided a clearer sense of our next steps. As we prepare for the reopening of our schools, the health and safety of our students, staff, and visitors, must remain at the forefront of our decision making. In support of this we will be scheduling a phased reopening of our schools.

Dear TUFSD Families, I hope this letter finds you well. The District has been exploring, and yesterday confirmed, our capability to offer parents the option to have their children attend school remotely if their child or family member is in a high risk category or if the parents are uncomfortable sending their child to school in our Hybrid model of instruction. As you know, we then sent a survey to all parents asking them to indicate which model they would choose, 100% Remote or Hybrid, to begin the school year. To assist parents in their decision making, we have included summaries of the two models below:

  • Hybrid/Remote Learning Choice for September 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, NYSED guidance recommends that parents/guardians have the option to select all remote learning if a student or family member is in a high risk-category, or if the parent/guardian is uncomfortable sending their student(s) to school for in-person instruction. There are two learning options available. Those options are: 100% Remote Learning: Students will not attend in-person instruction at all and instead will be instructed remotely 100% of the time. Hybrid Learning: Students will attend in-person instruction 2 days a week and remote instruction 3 days a week. Please fill out the form to let us know the option you choose. Your response is due by Sunday, August 16th at midnight. Please fill out one form for each child.

  • Community Update Letter

I hope this letter finds you and your families safe following the damaging storm this week, and in continued good health. I am writing today to share our weekly updates regarding the District’s Recovery Planning and preparations for the 2020-2021 school year and other important information. Following is the update for this week: Reopening Plans: Last week, our district submitted initial reopening plans to the State Education Department. These plans include the three instructional models we were directed to develop: In-Person; Learning from Home; and Blended. This morning, Governor Cuomo announced that all New York schools would be allowed to open based upon the COVID-19 infection rate. We are now awaiting an Executive Order or guidelines from the State Education Department regarding any additional requirements for reopening.
