  • Sleepy Hollow High School Announces Valedictorian, Salutatorian for Class of 2021

    The Public Schools of the Tarrytowns would like to extend a proud congratulations to the valedictorian and salutatorian from the Sleepy Hollow High School Class of 2021. Valedictorian Maya Weitzen and salutatorian Zachary Rudder, both of whom have been in Tarrytown schools since kindergarten, have worked incredibly hard to achieve these highest of academic honors, and their achievement is made even more impressive by the fact that they are graduating during a pandemic and have spent much of their senior year in hybrid classrooms.

    Las Escuelas Públicas de Tarrytowns felicitan a su Valedictorian y su Salutatorian de Sleepy Hollow High School - Clase 2021. Valedictorian Maya Weitzen y Salutatorian Zachary Rudder, ambos han estado en las escuelas de Tarrytown desde el Kindergarten y trabajaron arduamente para lograr estos honores académicos.   • TUFSD aprueba el presupuesto para el año escolar 2021-22; Elecciones públicas el 18 de mayo

    TARRYTOWN, NY, 20 de abril de 2021 - La Junta de Educación del Distrito Escolar de Tarrytowns ha aprobado el presupuesto que se presentará a los votantes para el año escolar 2021-22. El presupuesto de $83,837,109 cumple con el límite impositivo con un aumento preliminar en los impuestos de 1.93%. Los electores verán dos propuestas de transporte en la boleta; una para la compra de autobuses y vehículos escolares para uso del distrito y la otra para proporcionar transporte a los estudiantes en los grados 3, 4 y 5 que residen a más de .3 millas hacia / de la escuela.   • TUFSD Approves Budget for 2021-22 School Year; Public Vote to be Held on May 18

    TARRYTOWN, NY, April 20, 2021 -- The Board of Education of the Tarrytowns Union Free School District has approved the budget that will be presented to voters for the 2021-22 school year. The $83,837,109 budget is in compliance with the tax cap with a proposed tax levy increase of 1.93% Voters will also see two transportation propositions on the ballot, one for the purchase of school buses and vehicles for use by the district and the other for to provide transportation to students in grades 3, 4 and 5 who reside more than .3 mile to/from school.   • The Public Schools of the Tarrytowns Music Education Program Receives National Recognition for the Second Straight Year

    The Public Schools of the Tarrytowns demonstrated commitment to music education earned the district the prestigious Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation. Now in its 22nd year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

  • Women’s History Month Provides Opportunity to Celebrate a Wide Variety of Women, Past and Present.

    March is designated as Women’s History Month and students throughout the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns discovered more about influential women through a variety of lessons. At W.L. Morse, Sandra Tavares created a wall with photos of noteworthy women that included Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Misty Copeland, Hellen Keller, Amelia Earhart and Malala Yousafzai. Students were encouraged to lead, learn, dance, inspire, write and educate others in a way similar to these role models.
