  • Peabody Preserve Provides Outdoor Classroom for Students

    “It’s a wondrous thing how the wild calms the child.” While the attribution to that quote is ‘unknown’ it easily could have been spoken by a variety of first and second grade Morse teachers whose students ventured into Peabody Preserve for class last Friday. “It’s so fun out here!” said first grade student Penelope. Her classmates quickly agreed as they darted onto the field to participate in a game of soccer.

    The Sleepy Hollow Art Honor Society Presents: The Sleepy Hollow High School Film Festival! Please join us in celebrating the first annual Sleepy Hollow High School Film Festival on May 18th at 7:00 pm. The festival will feature the work of students in our school. Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated and will help support Art Scholarships.   • Deborah Brand Joins Public Schools of the Tarrytowns as High School Principal

    Sleepy Hollow, NY, May 6, 2021 -- The Public Schools of the Tarrytowns is pleased to welcome Deborah Brand as Principal of Sleepy Hollow High School. A lifelong educator, Ms. Brand joins the district from the Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District in Orange County, NY, where she served as high school principal since 2017. In her role, she was instrumental in implementing a STEM curriculum through a Robotics Club, AP Calculus BCand an AP Research program and coordination of workshops with the United States Military Academy at West Point. Ms. Brand also oversaw the enhancement of school culture through Safe School Ambassadors (a student-based, nationally accredited anti-bullying initiative), a Student Advisory Committee, a Student Diversity Panel, the School Beautification and Culture Committee, student recognition programs, and restorative justice practices.

  • Sleepy Students Celebrate National Teacher Appreciation Week with a Thank You Video

    The National Education Association announced that this Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2-8, 2021, we are saying 'thank you’ to the extraordinary educators who have worked tirelessly with students and families to keep things moving forward, despite such an unpredictable year. Students enrolled in the Digital News course at SHHS decided to interview their peers to create a thank you video for their teachers. The students wanted to express their appreciation for the lengths that the teachers have gone to during the pandemic to ensure that students have had a positive learning experience and that the students had the tools to cope, grow and thrive.
