Sleepy Hollow Middle School Participates in Hour of Code
On Friday, December 21, students in all grades participated in Hour of Code during their math classes at SHMS. The Hour of Code is the largest learning event in history. It is an introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics of computer programming and coding. After joining a Google Classroom for their grade levels, students chose to animate characters from Star Wars, Minecraft, Angry Birds, or Flappy Birds through a series of prompts, teaching coding along the way. Students who finished the animation activities were invited to learn the computer coding language of Python, used at Google, NASA, and YouTube.
The entire event was coordinated by Ms. Rodrigues and Ms. Albukerk, 7th-grade math teachers at SHMS. A great time was had by all!
