Ancient Greek Mythology Comes Alive in the Washington Irving Art Room!

Third grade artists illustrated characters from Greek mythology. A myth is an idea or story that is believed by many people but that is not true. A myth is a story that was told in an ancient culture to explain the world around them... like the change of the seasons or a volcano erupting.  Created thousands of years ago, Greek myths often feature battles between heroic humans and terrible creatures to show the importance of bravery and intelligence. Illustrating characters and their stories makes an important connection between visual literacy and written literacy. Students concentrated on the details that make the stories so memorable and creating settings to help tell the story.
