Washington Irving Community Honored

Students, staff and administrators at Washington Irving Intermediate School will be honored by the Town of Greenburgh for reaching out to the community. During the month of October, they collected more than 1,000 pairs of socks for the homeless which were donated to Midnight Run.

Librarian Kerri DiLascio organized the Socktober event which was inspired by a nationwide movement. Socks and underwear are the least donated items.

“I feel like the students are the vehicle, and I am just helping them become better citizens,” said DiLascio

“We are very proud of our Washington Irving School students for all their hard work and for helping many families who are in need,” said WI Principal Thomas Holland. “Their effort is a true example of one of our building goals, empathy.  We thank them and all our families for their contribution.”

The following members of the WI Community will be honored at the Greenburgh Town Board meeting on Wednesday January 23 at 7:30 located at 177 Hillside Avenue in Greenburgh.

Keri DiLascio, Thomas Holland, and students: Gabriel Spector, Annabelle Hutson, Ava Mendez, Eoghan Glynn, Marley DeFilippis, Connor Babooran, Cailiegh Coffey, Courtney Coffey and Maeve Yox.
