Third Grade Writing
Third grade students at Washington Irving have been writing up a storm! They have been busy working through a variety of pieces such as personal narratives, non-fiction books on expert topics, and opinion pieces. Since a traditional in-person Author Celebration was not possible at this time, the students in Mrs. Clark’s class shared their writing through a virtual Author Celebration. Parents and guardians were given individual links which they shared with extended family and friends, some of whom lived in different states across the country. After the audience enjoyed a formal presentation of the published expert book, writers also had time to share a process book detailing their individual journey through the writing process. This opportunity provided third grade writers a forum to engage in authentic discussions about their work while simultaneously celebrating their writing successes with family and friends!
