Students are Learning Valuable Lessons Through Literature

Students from Mrs. Von Essen's and Ms. Dal Ceredo's class worked on a team building activity based on Peter Reynold's book, The Dot.  Students listened and read about the main character Vashti's frustration and inner struggles with not feeling successful at drawing.  By the end of the book, Vashti not only felt empowered but was then able to empower another reluctant child.

The students worked on an activity that allowed creativity and different perceptions to shine through.  They learned how to 'see' through the eyes of their peers and appreciate each other's differences.
