4th Graders Take a Trip to The Rockefeller Estate Gardens

On October 1st and 2nd the 4th grade students visited the Rockefeller Estate Gardens to learn more about plants, composting, recycling, and the water cycle.  Last spring, as 3rd graders, they visited the estate and planted crops.  The crops were harvested on these days to make a delicious vegetable soup!  All the students had the opportunity to rotate through six hands-on stations by master gardeners.  These stations included harvesting and preparing crops, identifying plants and seeds, creating seed art and herbal tea, creating a terrarium, and learning about composting, recycling, and trash.  We learned about environmental sustainability through this opportunity. Many thanks to the Rockefeller Brothers Fund for hosting our students to the many volunteers.
