Images of Ancient Egypt in Gold by the Fifth Grade

In the art room, fifth grade students all studied different aspects of ancient Egyptian art forms and designed metallic scratchboards which reflect their new understanding of this fascinating epoch in history.  We studied Ancient Egyptian artifacts and culture, made drawings and then transferred our designs onto black scratchboards before we were able etch off the black to reveal the shiny gold. Students’ imagery contained symbols such as the scarab, winged scarab, falcon, lotus and ankh.
