Gulino Appointed as Interim Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics
The Board of Education of the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael J. Gulino as the Interim Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics. He will join the District on July 1, 2019.
Mr. Gulino has 38 years of experience in schools, serving in the positions of; Health Education Teacher, Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics and coach. He spent most of this time in the Bryam Hills School District. Most recently he served as Interim Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics in the South Orangetown Central School District. He also previously served in our District as the Acting Principal of Sleepy Hollow High School in 2017 to cover a short leave of absence. Mr. Gulino is an Adjunct Lecturer at Lehman College in the Bronx and also serves as a National Teaching faculty member for the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators where he teaches leadership training courses to athletic directors across the country.
Mr. Gulino earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree majoring in Physical Education from Manhattan College and two Masters of Science degrees from Columbia University – Teachers College and Lehman College; in Physical Education and Applied Physiology and Health, Education and Promotion respectively. He also earned his Professional Diploma in Education Administration from Long Island University CW Post.
“We are very excited to have Mike joining our leadership team here in the Tarrytowns,” said Christopher Borsari, Superintendent of Schools. “In addition to leading our Health, Physical Education and Athletic program, he will be tasked with reviewing our athletic program, through an athletic study process focused upon improving the athletic experience of students.”
Mr. Gulino will be replacing Ms. Denise Kiernan who has served as our Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics since July 1, 2017.
