Visiting Artist

DaiQuan Davis grew up in a family that loved and played music. He decided to harness that passion and produce his own sounds.

The drummer and producer met with Sleepy Hollow High School Music Production and Technology students on January 10 where he played different beats and tracks and provided insights about the music industry.

“Learn different programs and become comfortable with a few of them,” Davis said. He also noted how technology like Apple didn’t exist when he was growing up. “I am happy you can have this experience. I am honored to be with you.”

Davis has performed with artists Dorinda Clark-Cole, Kim Burrell, Kierra “Kiki” Sheard, Trey Sonz, Johnny Gill and Angie Stone. He accompanies other musicians at Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater and appeared on MTV, VH1, The Queen Latifah Show and many others.

Music teacher Austin Day trusts that his students will grow from this experience. “I want the students to know what it is like to be a producer, to think about this course and how it translates into the real world.”

Freshman Florencia Perez finds value in the visits. “It helps you because you see a person who is experienced in the industry and how they made it their career.”
