Michael Arias Appointed as Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics 

The Board of Education of the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Arias as the Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics. He will join the District on July 1, 2020. 

Mr. Arias, who has 15 years experience in athletics administration, joins the District from the Rye City School District. For the past four years he served as the Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics, and oversaw and managed all facets of more than 80 interscholastic teams and over 140 coaches and staff. Prior to Rye City School District, Mr. Arias worked at Keio Academy of NY for 11 years, as a physical education and health teacher and as the Director of Athletics. 

“I look forward to helping each student athlete in Public Schools of the Tarrytowns realize their full potential as athletes but more importantly as young men and women” said Mr. Arias. 

Mr. Arias earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Cortland where he majored in Physical Education, followed by a Master of Science degree in Health Education from Lehman College, Bronx, NY. He earned his Professional Diploma in Educational Leadership from Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY. 

“Mike Arias is going to be a tremendous addition to our leadership team here in the Tarrytowns. I am confident he will continue to build upon the momentum and improvements initiated by Mike Gulino, in the areas of Health, Physical Education and Athletics,” said Chris Borsari, Superintendent of Schools. 

Mr. Arias will be replacing Mr. Michael Gulino who has served as our Interim Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics since July 1, 2019.
