Message from the Superintendent

October 18, 2020

Dear TUFSD Families & Staff,

On Friday, October 16, I informed you that a Sleepy Hollow Middle School employee tested positive for COVID-19 and then yesterday, October 17, shared that an employee who was present at both John Paulding and Morse has also tested positive for COVID-19. In each instance, we immediately contacted the Westchester County Department of Health (DOH), who is responsible for contact tracing. Both employees are in quarantine.

I, along with our District COVID Coordinator, Scott Dorn, have been working with the Department of Health throughout this weekend. At this time, the DOH’s contact tracing and notification process to those who were potentially exposed remains underway, but is not complete.  As a result, all students and staff from Sleepy Hollow Middle School, John Paulding and Morse will work remotely tomorrow, October 19. Based on guidance from the DOH, Sleepy Hollow High School and Washington Irving will continue their regular hybrid schedules tomorrow. All buildings have, of course, received the scheduled deep cleaning and sanitizing.

To ensure that the district is working in lockstep with the Westchester County DOH, Mr. Dorn and I will be meeting tomorrow with DOH Commissioner, Dr. Sherlita Amler, and clinical members of her staff, to discuss the number of positive cases in the district in recent weeks and whether another protocol or additional course of action is necessary. We will provide another update tomorrow afternoon.

Again, I thank you for your patience and flexibility. Should you have any questions, please contact Mr. Dorn at 914-332-6253.

Sincerely,

Christopher Borsari

Superintendent
