Washington Irving Greenhouse is Growing Again

Thanks to a generous donation from Hitachi, the WI greenhouse was updated approximately fifteen years ago and has allowed thousands of students to enjoy a “farm to table” experience. Over the years it has become a tradition for our 5th grade students to have the amazing opportunity to reap the benefits of WI’s greenhouse.

Unfortunately, due to COVID, the greenhouse has been closed the last two years, but thanks to parent volunteers and greenhouse coordinator, Leah McVey, we are growing again! All 5th grade students will participate in planting, nurturing, harvesting, and eating vegetables from our gardens. In addition, students will learn about soil ph levels, photosynthesis, measurement, etc. We are grateful that this wonderful program is back-in-action.
