Superintendent's Update: April 28, 2023

April 28, 2023

Dear TUFSD Community and Staff:

As we wrap up a very busy April, I want to begin this week’s update with a heartfelt thank you to every person in this district who works hard every day to care for our students and create a supportive environment for all. Here’s just a glimpse at what’s been happening throughout the month.

Our high school counselors have been providing additional support to students making decisions about post-graduation plans. Our administrators have been finalizing the 2023-24 school year budget. Our facilities team has been preparing and maintaining our buildings for numerous events during and after the school day. And our athletic and performing arts departments have been dedicated to showcasing our students’ talents - be it on the field, track or stage. These are just a few of the many examples of the ongoing effort that make us proud to be part of the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns.

Following are some reminders and updates:

SHMS Drama Production: Sleepy Hollow Middle School is proud to present its spring drama production.  This year, the cast and crew will be performing two short plays, Ariadne’s Thread and Pandora’s Fire based on Greek mythology.  The performances will be tonight, April 28th at 7:00PM and Saturday, April 29th at 11:00AM.  All shows will be performed at the theater of Sleepy Hollow Middle/High School.  Break a leg!

Lost & Found Reunion Event: The PTA will host an opportunity for parents to reunite with their students' lost jackets, sweatshirts, and water bottles Tuesday May 2nd and Wednesday May 3rd from 5pm - 7pm outside the High School Auditorium.  Lost & Found collections from Transportation, the Middle School, and the High School will be made available in one convenient location.  Swing by on your way home from work or sports practice.

Community Wardrobe Shopping Days: Community Wardrobe is a committee of the Horsemen PTA that offers quality clothing, footwear, and accessories for free to our TUFSD families and other neighbors in a dignified, boutique-like setting. "Shopping" days (no money required) are happening now at their brand new home at 222 North Washington Street on April 27, 28, 29, and 30th. Families must sign up here to make an appointment.
