In their inaugural season, the TarryBots took on the Hudson Valley Regional FIRST Robotics Competition, joining teams from across the region, country, and around the world. Over the course of the event, students tested their robot in a series of matches, earning early success, learning from each round, and gaining valuable experience on the competition floor.

Junior Adanhyr Morocho has been named a 2026 Social Advocacy Award recipient by Volunteer New York!, recognizing her leadership and commitment to supporting others. Her journey from arriving in the U.S. as a Spanish-speaking student to becoming a voice for her community reflects the power of using your voice to make a difference.

SHHS teachers recently visited Southern Westchester BOCES, where they connected with students engaged in hands-on career training. The visit offered a closer look at how classroom concepts take shape in applied settings and sparked new ideas for connecting more students to these pathways.

Our Washington Irving 5th graders took their learning beyond the classroom this week with a “College Bound” visit to Pace University. From touring the campus and exploring academic and athletic spaces, to connecting with college students and creating their own “future badges,” our students got a meaningful glimpse into college life and all the possibilities ahead.

SHHS sophomores and juniors attended the Human Rights Institute, which brought together students from more than 40 high schools across the region. The trip was supported by both the SHHS Social Studies Department and the Human Rights Club.
